The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides a home for robust collaboration with internationally known faculty researchers in the areas of basic, translational, and clinical musculoskeletal research at UAMS and partner institutions. The team includes scientists in orthopaedic surgery, physiology and cell biology, endocrinology and metabolism, biomechanical and biomedical engineering and other specialties. This depth and breadth of expertise enables the collaboration necessary for groundbreaking research that improves musculoskeletal health. Our investigators secure research grants to support their work, run basic research laboratories, conduct clinical trials, publish their findings in major journals, and train future generations of researchers. They have achieved honor and acclaim and are often invited to present at prestigious national and international scientific conferences.
